Day 4 – Setting up Your Tools (Preparation)

Wow, we’ve come a long way over the last 3 days haven’t we? Just over half way there… In today’s training I’d like to talk to you about the ESSENTIAL tools you’ll need to be part of the 3 Step Syndication System.

The tools enable other people to share your content much more easily and effectively and your message will reach many more people by taking the time to prepare yourself first.

Important Update: It is NO longer a requirement to have ALL of these things in place, although the more you have, the more success you’ll have.

The TSA Essential Tools

I’ll briefly talk about each of these accounts so you understand why you need them.

WordPress Blog (Self Hosted)

If you already have a blog, fantastic! Is it a self hosted WordPress blog, (http://wordpress.org) which is on your own domain name? If so, then great!

If you have a Blogger.com blog or a yourname.wordpress.com blog, or any other type of blog, you may want to switch to self hosted WordPress.

If you are using something other than a self hosted WordPress blog you wont get as much benefit out of the system and you won’t receive many blog comments, bookmarks or shares because people won’t understand your blog.

Kim has written an excellent post here about migrating your blog content from an old blog to your new blog.

Note: People will tend to ONLY comment and share content on blogs they recognize the layout of. People like familiarity and if the comments box is in a different place, required a different process to submit comments or if the social share buttons are in a different place, people won’t take action because it’s different.

You can also get cheap web hosting from a good friend of ours at Web Hosting Solutions. (This is an affiliate link but is well worth it and is MUCH cheaper than most places)

Once you have your self hosted WordPress blog set up, there are a number of Plugins you’ll want to install to make things both easier for you and for your fellow group/tribe members.

As we’ve talked about already in a previous tutorial, your blog is your home. It’s your hub. It’s where you put your best content and tutorials and get your message out to other people. It’s also the place you build up the credibility and rapport with your followers. Everything points towards your blog, and traffic from the other accounts drives towards your blog.

Facebook Account

Most people already have a Facebook account set up. Again this is an essential tool to be part of the 3 Step Syndication System. If you don’t have a Facebook account set up, please go and set one up now at http://www.facebook.com – in Phase 2 trainings we’ll be going into much more detail about how to set up your profile correctly, how to craft your story and position yourself to build and grow your business.

Facebook Fan/Like Page

To grow your presence and business online, it’s essential to have a Facebook Fan/ Like Page where you can connect with your audience, followers and fans. If you don’t already have one of these set up… please go set it up at a bare minimum. It doesn’t have to look flashy, it doesn’t have to have video’s, photos and much information on it, just get it set up as a basis. Again, we’ll go into much more detail about this in Phase 2 and 3 trainings.

If you are doing all this for your business, then name your Fan Page after your business. If you have a personal brand, then use that. Or if you are doing this to position yourself as an expert then name your fan page after yourself. (But remember, after you hit over 100 followers, you will not be able to change the Page’s name)

YouTube Account

To be an effective Social Media Marketer you MUST use video in your repertoire. If you don’t currently do video’s that’s fine but we’ll be working on helping you understand how to craft your message through video and how to most effectively position yourself in your video’s. Video is a very POWERFUL medium to IMPACT your prospects and customers.

You’ll also require your YouTube account when making friends and following other people within the system.

Head on over to http://www.youtube.com to set up an account if you don’t already have one.

Twitter Account

Twitter is a powerful profile to have in your arsenal if you know how to use it correctly. It’s also one of the essential tools we require you to have when joining the 3 Step Syndication System.

Again, if you don’t already have a Twitter account, please go and set one up now. We’ll look at how to use it, craft your bio and gain hordes of followers in the next training modules.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a very underrated website compared to Facebook and is a critical site to set up your profile on to achieve big business success. Most BIG business owners and powerful people use LinkedIn to connect with each other. It’s a professional network, whereas Facebook is “for anyone.”

People with a lot of money hang out on LinkedIn. Again, just set up your profile and we’ll show you how to maximize your branding on LinkedIn in Phase 2 and 3 trainings.
